I lived in Bavaria (1947-1959), and have spent months in Vienna since. The breads there are phenomenally tasty, and the breads in the U.S. are bland by comparison. This loaf is so reminiscent of those of both my youth and adulthood. I will be a customer for many years to come.

I started buying your wonderful bread because I missed the fantastic bread that I always have while in Germany. I had some German friends over to my home yesterday for some coffee and kuchen. I was 50:50 skeptical, but it turned out that my high expectations were absolutely fulfilled, as not only a German, but a (Kur-)Pfälzer :-)
The Pfalz, or Palatinate region, close to France is famous for its Landbrot (country bread).
Back to Ze Brotbox Swiss (?) bread:
The crust doesn't look as dark as I have seen in in Germany what concerned me a bit before ordering. But it totally has the right bitterness in the taste and it is knusprig (crunchy). I store it without box and it doesn't get to dry or soft for the 3 to 4 days it takes us to eat it (Redondo Beach, CA climate). And I actually bake it for 20 minutes at 410ºF.
The dough also tastes fantastic and authentic. When it comes straight out of the oven, I don't even eat it with salted butter, but just as it is. That good!
And I never toast it until maybe the last day for a bit of a change. Only lousy bread needs toasting.
So the only question that remains is: where are the Dampfnudeln (steamed dumplings)?

The taste if this bread catapults me back to eating tasty bread in Germany. My family ignored the crackers and went straight for this bread after tasting it. Used it for a base with cheese and cold cuts, then for dipping in a cheese fondue. Love it and so thankful to have access to all the varieties of this German bread.

I would say this bread is definitely what we had as children growing up in a German household. I sent a box to my brother and he agreed. Both boxes were delivered very quickly and the bread was delicious. We will be purchasing again.
